What To Expect After Hair Replacement

Hair replacement is something you may have considered after losing your natural hair so that you can feel like yourself again. While the procedure is fairly straightforward and can be well-described by your doctor, you may be slightly unclear on what to expect in the days following. Obviously, you want to be sure that it's something that is easy to live with and manage. Here's what you should expect after hair replacement.

Visit Your Doctor The Day After:

First off, you need to visit with your doctor the day after the procedure is done. During this time, the hair will be washed and inspected to ensure that all areas were thoroughly covered the day before. From here, many of the details of living with your hair replacement will be discussed, and you will receive a kit to help you get adjusted to the new hair.

Healing Is Important:

Not many people realize that some healing time is required, which is usually about a week's worth of time. However, it shouldn't affect your day-to-day life, but you may notice slight swelling and scabbing. This may be annoying, but it's important to note that it doesn't usually last more than a week. You shouldn't mess with it or try to fix, but simply let it heal naturally.

Suture Removal:

There is going to be an area where the skin has been sutured together, and this will be removed after about two weeks. It's important to note that this will leave a slight scar, but it will barely be visible and will be covered with your growing hair, so it's not something you should be too concerned about.

Further Hair Growth After Four Months:

After about four months is when you should notice new hair growth. This is when your hair is going to become more even and full, which is what most people are looking for when going through hair replacement. Although it doesn't take a significant amount of time before others will notice the difference in your hair, it is well worth it, and you will notice a dramatic difference at this point whereas in the beginning, the change may only be subtle, and thus not as exciting up until this point.

When you know what to expect with hair replacement, you can be sure that you are more fully aware of the changes you are going to see and what you should and should not be concerned about in the days that follow the procedure.
