Hair Care Tips For Beautiful Locks

Your hair says a lot about you. Is your hair shiny and beautiful, or is it limp and dull? You want your hair to look like you've spent a lot of time on it without needing to actually spend too much time at all. If your hair is dull, thinning, greasy, frizzy or has split ends and damage, you'll need to do some work on your hair. See below for some helpful tips to care for your hair.

Get Regular Trims

Be sure to visit your hair salon every 5 - 8 weeks (depending on your hair style) to get regular trims. Trimming the ends of your hair helps get rid of split ends and helps encourage new growth. It also helps keep your style, or you can try out new styles.

Don't Over-Shampoo

Shampooing your hair too often can strip your hair of it's natural oils. Shampoo once per day, but if your hair is too dry try to use a dry shampoo or skip a washing here and there to help bring back the natural oils to your scalp and hair.

Use Products For Your Hair Type

Only use hair products that are for your particular hair type. If you have dry hair, use products that help moisturize and hydrate. If you have frizzy hair, use products that tame frizz, bring back shine and soften hair. If you have oily hair, don't use anything that moisturizes your hair, use something that helps add oxygen to your hair so it feels clean but not greasy. Just because something works for someone else, it may not work for you. Read labels and ask your stylist about products for your particular hair type.

Take Care Of Yourself

Taking good care of yourself will reflect in your hair as well. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and protein, and avoid greasy or fatty foods. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, which will help hydrate your scalp as well and can encourage growth. Exercise at least 3 days per week to help promote blood flow in the body, which will also encourage hair growth. Be sure to manage your stress by doing things you love. Elevated stress levels can cause your hair to thin or fall out.

Take good care of your hair by getting regular trims and taking care of yourself. Be sure to speak to your stylist about other helpful hair care tips for shiny, beautiful locks of hair.
